Jordan Pond House, a restaurant and shop with a long tradition within Acadia National Park, sits on a hill overlooking a beautiful lawn along the Jordan Pond. Guests have been enjoying these amazing views and dining at this site since 1893 when Nellie McIntire, the first proprietor, started baking and serving her famous popovers out of the restaurant. Ever since then, we have been serving popovers and tea.

Park History

The original building burned down in 1979. Upon completion of the current building in 1982, tea on the lawn has been an uninterrupted summer tradition.

Afternoon tea with popovers remains a popular, not to be missed tradition on a visit to Acadia National Park. Please note that because we are taking priority seating only, lunch and teatime are a very busy time, please plan accordingly. The shortest waits for tables are before 11:30am or after 4pm. Our menu includes the traditional favorites of lobster stew, locally sourced ice cream, freshly squeezed lemonade, and of course, the infamous Jordan Pond House Popovers.  Dining Reservations will be activated starting May 1st for our May 17th opening of the 2023 season.
